چکیده

Abstract This paper presents a review on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) detection and mapping of buried utilities which have been widely used as non-destructive investigation efficiently in terms usage. The reviews cover experimental design GPR data collection survey, pre-processing, extracting hyperbolic feature using image processing machine learning techniques. Some the issues challenges facing by interpretation particularly hyperbolas pattern underground also highlighted.

Detection of Shallowly Buried Landmines from Ground Penetrating Radar Signals

A method for detecting shallowly buried landmines using sequential GPR data is presented. After removing dominant coherent component of ground surface reflection from GPR data, three kinds of target features related to wave correlation, energy ratio, and signal arrival times are extracted. Since the detection problem treated here is reduced to a binary hypothesis test, an approach based on a li...

Buried Object Discrimination in a Ground Penetrating Radar Radargram

ISSN 2277 – 503X | © 2013 Bonfring Abstract--Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a nondestructive technique used for the location of objects or interfaces buried beneath the earth’s surface or located within a visually opaque structure. This research work proposes techniques for buried object discrimination for the images generated by GPR by using GPR frequency-domain spectral features. The motiv...

Fusion of forward-looking infrared camera and down-looking ground penetrating radar for buried target detection

In this paper, we propose a system to detect buried disk-shaped landmines from ground penetrating radar (GPR) and forward-looking long wave infrared (FL-LWIR) data. The data is collected from a test area of 500m 2 , which was prepared at the IPA Defence, Ankara, Turkey. This test area was divided into four lanes, each of size 25m length by 4m width and 1m depth. Each lane was first carefully cl...

Automated Rebar Detection for Ground-Penetrating Radar

Automated rebar detection in images from groundpenetrating radar (GPR) is a challenging problem and difficult to perform in real-time as a result of relatively low contrast images and the size of the images. This paper presents a rebar localization algorithm, which can accurately locate the pixel locations of rebar within a GPR scan image. The proposed algorithm uses image classification and st...

Discovery, mapping and interpretation of buried cultural resources non-invasively with ground-penetrating radar

Ground-penetrating radar is an extremely useful tool for the mapping and interpretation of buried cultural remains within 2–3 metres of the surface, especially when the stratigraphy is complex. Standard reflection profiles can be processed to correct for depth and distance, and also filtered and processed to make cultural features visible. When many profiles are collected in closely spaced tran...
